Whether it’s a cozy winter evening by the fire, a summer camping trip, or a rainy afternoon at home, card games are a go-to activity for many families and friends. Their versatility ensure they remain a beloved pastime, handed down through generations.
In an era dominated by screens, card games offer a refreshing way to interact face-to-face especially during the holidays, because they can include most family members.. They encourage conversation, storytelling, and the occasional playful tease over a well-timed bluff. The simplicity of a physical deck of cards also makes them a great option for quality time.

One of the most beautiful aspects of playing cards is its ability to bridge generations. Grandparents teach classics like Rummy or Canasta, while younger family members might introduce modern twists. These moments of shared learning and play foster connections and preserve traditions.
I have fond memories of learning to shuffle a deck of card with my uncle Rolly as he asked jokingly why high school had not taught me that skill yet. Over the years, I have learned so many card games, that I decided to publish my favourites in a book titled my Go-To Card Games.. You can get it on Amazon.
With just one deck of cards, the possibilities are endless. Whether it’s a raucous game of Spades, a strategic battle of Bridge, or a friendly round of Uno, card games cater to all ages and skill levels. They can be as lighthearted or competitive as you like, making them a perfect fit for any gathering.
