Advent Calendar Blog 2022 – That’s A Wrap

Has it already been twenty-four days since I started on this year’s Advent Calendar Blog? I intended the topic for 2022 to be a reflection on change, and how to face it with courage and dignity, whether it was brought in intentionally or not into our life, yet it seems there were a few other themes that were wanting to be explored as well. That’s how it is, isn’t it? You think you’re a heading in one direction, but there are all sorts of side trips and distractions to slow you down or show you other things.

As a coach, I have learned to adjust my approach according to the person and situation I am working with, but I do see that I have a natural tendency to use self reflection and self knowledge as tools for change and favour journalling and meditation as techniques to get there. Also, as my family usually reminds me jokingly, it seems I give out the same advice for all ailments. « Drink more water! « and « Have you tried closing your eyes and quieting your mind ? »

Change is inevitable and life is unpredictable. The sooner we accept that our life always needs to adjust based on what comes at us, the easier it gets. Those who can embrace change, and go through life with more flexibility will adapt easier to the shifts and curves in the road.

“Change is painful, but nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong.”

The key is having a good understanding of who we are, knowing what our key strengths are and where our weaknesses lie. When you know where your blind spots are, you check more often for obstacles, you adjust your sight line to better see what’s coming behind you. Unexpected events will still happen, but you learn to deal with them differently.

It’s also important to know where one is going. We may not all need a purpose to be happy, but having goals and destinations allow us to aim for something. The destination may be about self improvement, helping others, achieving milestones or living out dreams, but how we get there also matters. The journey often teaches us a lot about ourselves and the destination we have set for ourselves.

The greatest gift you can receive, is another day of life.”

In the end, it has to be fun. We are given this life as a gift, and gifts are meant to be enjoyable and bring us pleasure. We need to find the bits in our lives that are good and make more of them. When we have a positive disposition and outlook, it’s easier to find those good bits, and see blessings in every thing around us.

I wish you all, my precious, loyal readers a wonderful Christmas. May the next few days be a good time spent in the company of others, filled with moments of reflection, rest, and nourishment for the mind, body and soul! Stay hydrated…drink water !

I am an intuitive and experienced leader and come naturally to coaching. I have spent the last 20 years helping individuals get unstuck, to achieve their goals and objectives. I enjoy interacting with new people and helping them to disengage from the minutiae of situations to see the bigger picture. These conversations inevitably lead to inspiration and it is quite a feeling to finally know what you want to achieve and see the path to get you there. Many individuals I have helped just needed a plan to stop wasting their energies and have more focus, while others needed a bit more time and we customized sessions suited to their needs. In all cases, we achieved positive change in either their professional or personal lives.
