I woke this morning inspired and in need of expressing gratitude for all of the blessings in my life.I am not sure why that is, but if pressed, I would not be able to tell you a single thing that is wrong with my life.
I am able to breathe good clean air and walk about freely. I am able to acquire all that I need to feed myself and dress warmly or festive. I have a comfortable home where my belongings are stored, I feel safe, and can rest peacefully each day.
I live in a country that has an abundance of ressources, making it possible for me to have the support I need from my government and my community. Today, if I needed to find work, I could, and if I needed to walk among nature I would have access to a bounty of trails, parks and open spaces to satisfy me and if I needed intellectual stimulation I would have to go no further than my tablet, the librairies and museums in my community or simply turn on the television.
I am surrounded by love and support from my family and so many friends. I am blessed to know the unconditional love from a parent, the inexplicable joy of seeing one’s own child become an amazing individual and to witness all over again the discovery of this world through the eyes of a child.

I could go on counting my many, many blessings, down to the minutia of having a heart that beats, eyes that see, a mind that wanders, or grateful for the kind-hearted spouse that loves and laughs, and be appreciative for the convenience of electricity that lights up my darkness or clean water that I can have hot or cold by simply turning the faucet.
Wouldn’t it be nice to spend the day talking about our blessings instead of what we judge to be wrong with the world and our neighbours? Just for today, we could let go of anger and worry, and make more room for joy, and gratitude.
A lot of the stress and grief we deal with are only thoughts. If you can change your thoughts, then it is possible that your mood will change, and your day will get better, and life won’t be so bad. It might sound simplistic, but millions of people do it everyday.
