The benefits of cultivating inner joy goes well beyond the development of your own personal well being. Personal joy becomes an opportunity to influence humanity when it transforms into a source of inspiration and positive action.
When you are sharing your joy within your community (the people you work with, your family, your neighbours, or the town you live in) through your acts of kindness and support of others, you’re actually setting in motion the opportunity to infuse more positivity into the world.
If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
– Mother Teresa
As your joy is transformed into a source of inspiration and positive action, your helping to nurture a collective joy. This transition occurs when people recognize the broader impact of their well-being on the world and choose to share their joy in ways that contribute to the greater good.
I think it’s tragic that we have this human capacity, which appears to be hardwired, or so the evolutionary biologists say, for collective joy. We have these techniques for generating it that go back thousands of years, and yet we tend not to use this.
– Barbara Ehrenreich
The Dalai Lama’s teachings often highlight the interconnectedness of humanity and the role of joy in creating a more harmonious world. His emphasis on inner joy reflects the idea that a peaceful and joyful mind contributes to personal well-being and the well-being of others.
When personal joy motivates actions that promote kindness, empathy, and positive change, it becomes a powerful force capable of influencing and uplifting humanity as a whole.
Happiness quite unshared can scarcely be called happiness; it has no taste.

Sharing joy with humanity can be done through simple yet impactful actions. Consider these:
1. Spreading Positivity: just by sharing uplifting stories, quotes, or experiences on social media, you are able to inspire and bring joy to others.
2. Performing Acts of Kindness: Carrying-out random acts of kindness in your community, whether it’s helping someone in need or volunteering your time takes your joy to the next level, and it can spread.
3. Expressing Gratitude: By acknowledging and appreciating the positive aspects of your life, your daily expression of gratitude fosters a positive atmosphere that benefits everyone around you.
4. Supporting Causes: It goes without saying that contributing to charitable organizations or causes that promote well-being and joy for those in need, is an obvious joy spreader, and potentially can improve the lives of one, or many.
5. Sharing Your Skills: Teaching or sharing your skills and knowledge with others, can be done in so many ways, and we should always look for opportunities to promote education and personal development.
Even small gestures can have a significant impact on the well-being of others and contribute to a more joyous collective experience.
Experiencing global joy involves fostering a sense of shared humanity and interconnectedness. Anyone can relate to the collective joy you experience at a music concert, or seeing your favourite sports team win the championship. In that moment, you are connected with strangers in an intense feeling of joy, and for those hours afterwards, you have a special bond with strangers, because they shared in your joy.
If we could go about spreading cheer, love, and warmth, the world would transform into the most idyllic place there is on earth. –

There’s a gradual progression when transitioning from personal joy to contributing to global joy. I attended a gathering long ago to hear the Dalai Lama speak and he explained to an audience member asking how one could help change the world that the work started within, and it rippled out.
To change the world, you start by changing yourself.
1. Cultivate Inner Joy: Develop personal well-being through practices like mindfulness, gratitude, and positive thinking.
2. Spread Positivity Locally: Share your joy within your community through acts of kindness, support, and building positive relationships.
3. Engage in Global Initiatives: Contribute to global causes, charities, or initiatives that address broader issues affecting humanity.
4. Promote Understanding: Encourage cultural awareness, empathy, and understanding to bridge gaps and foster a sense of global unity.
5. Advocate for Positive Change: Participate in movements or organizations working towards positive global change, whether it’s environmental, social, or humanitarian.
6. Inspire Others: Share your journey and experiences, inspiring others to also contribute to creating a more joyful and interconnected world.
By combining personal growth with actions that positively impact your community and the world, you can play a role in the broader movement towards global joy and well-being.
Share your life with others. You will have a joyful life.
