Ten Affirmations for New Beginnings

In the news
A recent study published in the Journal of Positive Psychology, reported that 122 people with depression or anxiety symptoms participated in a study designed to measure the impact of performing acts of kindness on mental health. It’s not surprising that those who started fitting small acts of kindness into their day showed an improvement in their symptoms.
And when it came to boosting feelings of social connectedness, those kind gestures worked even better than two techniques used in standard “cognitive behavioural therapy,” the study found.
Instructed to perform random acts of kindness, many participants chose to reach out to people in their lives in small ways — offering a ride, baking cookies for them or writing a thoughtful note.
Experts said the findings point to the power of simply being kind — possibly because it helps people with mental health symptoms get out of their own heads, even temporarily.
Three Tips to Stay Positive
Limit Negative Inputs – Be mindful of the information you consume. Reduce exposure to negative news or toxic content that can impact your mood.
Engage in Hobbies – Spend time doing activities you enjoy. Hobbies can be a source of joy and a way to recharge.
Laugh and Have Fun – Laughter is a natural mood booster. Engage in activities that bring joy and humor into your life.
Remember, staying positive is a journey, and it’s okay to have moments of difficulty. Consistent effort and self-compassion can make a significant impact over time.

Simple stimulation of this nerve through deep breathing, mindfulness, and even humming or laughing has been shown to calm the body after the fight-or-flight response is triggered by the sympathetic nervous system and leave you with a sense of calm,
This wellness trend is growing so quickly that the hashtag ‘vagus nerve stimulation’ has been viewed over 55 million times on TikTok.”
